St. Petersburg, Florida — September 9, 2026 — PlaneWX now lets you show visibility in meters.
Profile → Preferences → Show visibility in meters. Off by default.
When it is on, visibility labels use ICAO METAR meter reporting — four digits under 10 km, rounded down. Below 50 m reads 0000. Below 800 m steps in 50s. Below 5,000 m steps in 100s. Below 10 km steps in 1,000s. At 10 km and above you see 9999 / 10+ km.
Ceiling stays in feet. Scoring and the personal minimums you stored stay in statute miles. This is display only.
The scale is sourced from ICAO METAR practice. Built for European users who asked for it — including Sven.

About PlaneWX
PlaneWX is the pilot’s decision support system, founded in 2025 by Mark Wolfgang, a Navy veteran and commercial instrument-rated pilot. Its WX Score synthesizes authoritative weather data against each pilot’s specific aircraft and personal minimums, feeds an integrated flight risk assessment built on the FAA’s PAVE framework, and connects pilots to a peer mentor network — so go/no-go planning can start up to 14 days out, not the night before. Tagline: The confidence to go, or the courage to stay™.
